EssayFlow ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the EssayFlow application ("App").

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Essay Content — Essay titles, text, word counts, and version history that you create or import within the App.
• Google Account Information — If you choose to link your Google account, we access your Google Drive on a read-only basis to import Google Docs into the App.

Information Stored Locally

All essay data — including prompts, versions, statuses, and word counts — is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit or store your essay content on any external server.

Google OAuth

When you connect your Google account, we use Google OAuth 2.0 to authenticate. We request the drive.readonly scope, which grants read-only access to your Google Drive. We do not modify, delete, or share any files in your Google Drive.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide and operate the App's core features (essay tracking, version management, and document import).
• Authenticate your Google account for Google Docs integration.

We do not use your information for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to the App's functionality.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your essay content never leaves your device except when you explicitly initiate a Google Docs import.

Data Security

Your data is stored locally on your Mac using standard macOS data protection mechanisms. Google OAuth tokens are stored securely on your device. We recommend keeping your macOS and the App updated to benefit from the latest security protections.

Data Retention

Since all data is stored locally, you have full control over your data. You can delete any essay, version, or linked document at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with Google Drive via Google's APIs. Your use of Google services is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it.

Children's Privacy

EssayFlow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
